Description: The second in the "Wizard of the Saddle" series. Artist John Paul Strain created this Civil war print of General Nathan Bedford Forrest. "Fire in the Sky" depicts Gen. Forrest's raid into West Tennessee on the Obion River - December 1862. Just as the fires of the burning bridges destroyed General Grant's communication and supply lines, so up in smoke went Grant's hopes of capaturing Vicksburg and Jackson, forcing his retreat to safer confines away from Forrest country.
